Ethics Training & Reporting
Reporting of Ethical Misconduct is our duty as professionals entrusted with the safety and welfare of your child and is required by Florida State law. All employees of The Cape Academy are required to complete ethics training on an annual basis as a condition of their employment. The Cape Academy requires that every employee report any issue that impacts the health, safety, or welfare of the students or the employees of the school. The person reporting the ethical misconduct, if doing so in good faith without malicious intent, is protected from reprisal from the person or organization being reported by Florida Statute section 39.203 and 768.095.
Any issue or incident that an employee determines is harmful to a student or to another employee should immediately be reported to the school administrator. If an employee knowingly fails to report misconduct or abuse, they can and will be subject to disciplinary measures, up to and including termination of employment.
Suspected cases of Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, or Neglect should be immediately reported by employees using the hotline: 1-800-96 ABUSE.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Sexual Offenders database is available at http://www.fdle.state.fl.us or by toll free telephone at 1-888-FL-PREDATOR (1-888-357-7332).
